THOT’s frontman, Grégoire Fray comments :
“ I remember the first time I heard—and understood—this song. I was in high school, back in the 1990s, and I was fascinated by the power and enduring relevance of Roger Waters’ lyrics. Written in the late 1970s, they seemed to resonate deeply with the world I was growing up in. Twenty-five years later, as the future once again seemed uncertain for everyone because of the Covid crisis, those lyrics struck me just as profoundly.
Regarding the video, it was an interesting exercise to create a visual and narrative piece that could match the lyrics. I started working on it last summer, well before the devastating wildfires that swept across Europe. But this came as no surprise. Our natural surroundings have been suffering from such dramatic events for years, constantly reminding us that we are heading towards a catastrophic scenario. Just as these lyrics were written more than 40 years ago, warnings about the future we are shaping were raised long ago—not only about wildfires, but about the direction in which our future is heading.“
