QUALIA AND THE FIVE ANCESTORS OF THE GREAT MARYLAND KINGDOM – Greek Technical Punk Band Announce New Album: ‘Accidentally Funding the End of the World’ Out Digitally on May 15th

After seven years of silence, Greek technical punk force Qualia and the Five Ancestors of the Great Maryland Kingdom return with a new full-length album titled Accidentally Funding the End of the World, set for digital release on May 15th via Thousand Islands Records. This marks the band’s first studio release since 2018’s critically underground-acclaimed Qualia Over Quantia.

Formed in Athens, Greece in 2016, QUALIA quickly made waves in the local scene with their debut single The Overview Effect (2017), followed by their first album in 2018 released with support from Polyscope Music. Featuring standout tracks like Mr. S (Is a Snake Merchant) and Vantablack, the band blended elements of technical skate punkmathcore breakdowns, and an explosive mix of clean vocals and screams.

Over the years, QUALIA have shared stages with bands like MuteAcid SnotThe Burnt Tapes, and Greek staples like Day Oof and The Overjoyed. In 2019, they toured Italy, performing at La Cabotina alongside Blowfuse and Lineout, and later joined Punk on Sea Vol. 2 in 2022 at Okio Cafe.

With Accidentally Funding the End of the World, QUALIA stick to their roots while pushing the envelope of their genre—expect surgical riffing, aggressive rhythms, and sharp, socially aware lyrics. The band continues to define and defy what technical punk rock can sound like.

QUALIA is:

  • Grigoris Hatzistergiou – Vocals
  • Markos Lampadiaris-Matsas – Guitar
  • Konstantinos Theodoropoulos – Guitar
  • Filippos Tsimas – Bass
  • Antonis Kouzoupis – Drums
