Doomcrusher – Forsaker

Featuring Andy Posdziech (Any Given Day), Jean Bormann (Rage), Marv Kinkel, and Rob Lee, with Maik Feldmann (Betontod), Doomcrusher arrive on Arising Empire with this EP titled “Forsaker”, a concentrated dose of modern metalcore, heavy riffs, breakdowns and a generous helping of cinematic, wide-screen atmosphere. The band, drawing on their considerable collective experience, demonstrate an undeniable command of arrangement, with riffs that carry a distinctly industrial and martial character that makes the tracks immediately recognisable, while the more melodic passages and choruses consistently tear open moments of instant, irresistible appeal for the listener. The titletrack, with a crescendo that builds into a series of genuinely gripping breakdowns, “Breakout“, which pushes further into deathcore territory, and “Odyssey“, which reveals the more dynamic side of the project, all combine to make this EP a genuinely compelling listen. Seven tracks in just over twenty minutes: “Forsaker” is a debut that is compact, modern and above all remarkably ambitious. Doomcrusher already appear to have found a clear direction, which, given the collective experience of the members involved, perhaps comes as no surprise, and the only question that remains is how far they can take it. A debut that leaves you wanting more.
