The Meffs – Business

The second album titled “Business” from Essex duo Lily Hopkins (vocals/guitar) and Lewis Copsey (drums/backing vocals), and a bullseye. Built around an uncompromising manifesto that gives the record its name (“Business is everything. It’s work, it’s war, it’s politics, it’s our health. Business is angry and ugly, it’s vulnerable and it speaks for all of us.“), “Business” is a concentrated blast of eleven powerful and abrasive tracks. The Meffs don’t sugarcoat anything, but with a healthy dose of that distinctly British sardonic wit, they spit back at us a razor-sharp and ferocious commentary on the world as it stands today. Produced by Dan Weller, “Business” captures perfectly the energy and grime of punk (“So Modern (Keep Up)” and “Where Did It All Go Wrong?“), throws in a dash of immediacy (“Love To Lose“) and even a more brooding and introspective side (“Like Gravity”). Alongside the young guns of The Molotovs, The Meffs fly the Union Jack high and confirm themselves as one of the finest acts on the British rock scene in this 2026 that is rapidly drawing to a close.
