This is what the band has to say: “What if it’s not the world that’s against you – but your own mind? Paranoia is about misunderstandings. Misunderstandings that cause you to doubt your own perception. A doubt that grows so big that you can no longer control it – and you become paranoid. Paranoia, in other words. Musically, the song is a tribute to German post-punk of the 1980s.”

(German) “Was, wenn nicht die Welt nicht gegen dich ist – sondern dein eigener Kopf? Paranoia handelt von Missverständnissen. Missverständnissen, die dazu führen, dass man an der eigenen Wahrnehmung zweifelt. Ein Zweifel, der größer wird, als dass man ihn selbst noch kontrollieren kann – und man wird paranoid. Paranoia also. Musikalisch ist das Lied eine Hommage an den deutschen Postpunk der 80er-Jahre.”

The new album GEGENWART by shatten will be released on 6 March 2026 on Misitunes.
