Belgrade, Serbia’s avant-garde rock and world music defenders THE CYCLIST CONSPIRACY announce the release of their new full-length “Back to Hermetics and Martial Arts Vol.1” this November 14th on Subsound Records, and present the hypnotic first track “Calice dei Fantasmi”.

With this new sonic experiment, The Cyclist Conspiracy merges 80s synthwave and Giallo dread with their native Balkan brass, creating a uniquely dark and cinematic sound. It’s a tense, pulsing journey into a neon-lit nightmare. “Calice dei Fantasmi” is an homage to Italian giallo cinema and the amazing soundtracks that accompany it. We love giallo aesthetics – they represent the authentic expression of “metaphysical anxiety” we are living through. While creating this, we had in mind Michele Soavi’s “The Church”, probably one of the visually most astonishing giallo movies ever, as well as Dylan Dog, an amazing Italian comic book series created by Tiziano Sclavi,” says composer and songwriter Nikola Mangas.
Their forthcoming new album “Back to Hermetics and Martial Arts Vol.1” is an epic adventure through the invisible worlds of Neoplatonic cinema. From mockumentaries about the lost books of occult correspondences, through psychedelic surf noir chambers with ritual suppers, and giallo screams of the world squished by the chthonic grasp, to the original footage of the victorious Belgrade-Dharamsala bicycle marathon of 1931, Morriconesque spaghetti western theophanies, and the saving grace of the Heart pierced by Seven Swords, the album delivers nine movie themes that combine various musical elements into a unique work of cinematic alchemy.
The band comments: “Back to Hermetics and Martial Arts Vol. 1 is a collection of esoteric essays and short stories from the various corners of The Little Brothers’ universe. It tells the story about the Faustian thirst for knowledge that was miraculously quenched by the Water of Life – turning former revolutionaries into mystics and bicycle races into pilgrimages.”

The Cyclist Conspiracy is the musical output of The Little Brothers dedicated to The Mysteries of The Last Age. Started as an informal project within The Society for the Development of Alchemical Studies “Vasko Popa” in 2014, nowadays it is a musical troupe with a varying number of souls, from 4 to 10. The group draws influences from various parts of the world, while trying to avoid superficial, “new age” eclecticism and directs its creative efforts toward the synthesis of these elements. All together, they create unique sonic escapism for the soul that embarks any listener on a long-haul voyage without further ado. Their latest studio album “Mashallah Plan” (2023) is a monumental psychedelic opus, weaving a dense tapestry of magnificent choral work, powerful desert riffs, and hypnotic rhythms. It’s a profound sonic pilgrimage, set against the vast landscapes of Northern Africa and the Middle East, that further cemented their reputation as masterful architects of transcendental sound.
The Cyclist Conspiracy have played numerous concerts in Serbia and neighboring countries, whether as headliners, support for other bands (Acid Mothers Temple, King Dude, Hayvanlar Alemi), or a part of festival lineups (Haywire Festival (RO), INdirekt (CRO), Zelenkovac Jazz Festival (BH), The Secret Society that Owns Belgrade (SR)).
