“Guernica“, the new single by S.R.L., is finally out today on all digital streaming platforms!
The release of the track follows just hours after the official premiere of the animated video, launched yesterday, Sunday, October 25 — a symbolic date that also celebrated Pablo Picasso’s birthday.
The visual project was created by Cristiano “Alcio” Alcini, the band’s guitarist who handled the animation, while the sound design was produced by Marco “Panda” delle Fate, also a guitarist in the group, who personally took care of the mix and mastering.

As lyricist Francesco “Khaynn” Bacaro explains, the track tells a fictionalized version of the creation of Picasso’s famous painting, inspired by the tragic bombing of the Basque city of the same name by the Nazi air force on April 26, 1937. In the band’s narrative, Picasso brings the masterpiece to life in a single, mad night, echoing the devastating speed with which the city was destroyed. More than just a historical tribute, “Guernica” is shaped as a bitter and urgent reflection on the cyclical nature of human violence. Despite the decades that have passed, the painting retains a raw and dramatic relevance, acting as a timeless photograph of the horrors that continue to stain history with blood, from the most remote past to present-day conflicts. Transcending the boundaries of its time, Picasso’s art manages to recount the present and the future with disarming lucidity, capturing what is perhaps its ultimate purpose.
With this new work, S.R.L. intend to celebrate this sharp vision while offering a moved thought to the endless and tragically growing list of innocent civilian victims of every new Guernica.

S.R.L. was born in Italy back in 1992 and their monicker is the acronym for “Società a Responsabilità Limitata (Limited Liability Company)”. The deep meaning of the name is both how the society has a limited responsibility in the daily occurrences and a tribute to the great italian rock bands of the 70’s (PFM Premiata Forneria Marconi, BMS – Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, etc).
